Artist’s Insight
If there are saints, there must also be icons. And here we come into contact with iconography, one of the most interesting branches of world visual art. When I started this project, I had no idea that I would become so fascinated and intrigued by this topic, that I would have to read several books and look through thousands of illustrations. But I still managed to avoid directly quoting icons. Especially since there are many iconographic traditions in Christianity alone. I limited myself to references to certain traditions, whether in composition, color, or form. You can find this in every painting.
