You might think I’ve mixed up the names, but it’s just a traffic light. No, it’s not just any traffic light; it’s an old one. I hope it’s not too difficult to notice. It only shows red and yellow because the green light has either burned out or has been intentionally replaced with red. The paint is peeling off in places, revealing layers beneath, and the birds have taken their toll on it while the weather has left its marks as well.
Exhausted, frightened, and feeling unnecessary, it still hangs in a place where no one cares to look or can see it. Isn’t that a reflection of old age? But it’s not death! I agree with you, but it’s also not life. Yet, it could be restored and brought back to life. But for what purpose? Thousands of new traffic lights have been created while you’ve been around, and they all shine brighter than you.
So what remains for this traffic light? Perhaps just to wait for its end, much like any elderly person.
