Painting Overview
The older I get, the more often appear the images of my parents in my head. I can’t think out the reason for this. After all, I’ve already experienced both of them. They died fairly young.
I wouldn’t call it a portrait, or even an attempt of it. It is an image of parents. That’s something that arises inside of me and requires to be released.
A strange compositional decision gives us an opportunity to realize that those are not people themselves, but rather only memories of them.
Not only do we understand this fact, but also we become aware that those people are rather dead than alive. The retro style of the painting refers to the second half of the 20th century — that is the time, when I was a child and they were still young. This picture is a fragment of my memory.
If you take a look at the picture, you will see the parents drawn from the back. That has been done intentionally. Maybe someone else recognizes in these people their relatives. Perhaps for someone this painting will be the reason to remember that we all either have or had parents. Just remember them.
