When I’m working on pop art, I’m trying to saturate the picture with some kind of additional meaning. Sometimes it comes to patriarchal symbolism instead of pop art. In this case, no additional meanings are required. Everybody is familiar with the research object, so it doesn’t require to be separately presented to everyone. This object itself already has the meaning, a ready-made metaphor, the symbol of Britain, which has passed throughout the century.
However, nothing is eternal in this world. Phone cabins are gradually disappearing from the streets of British cities. So I’ve drawn one, as a memento.
Do you know what these graceful and strong boxes are made of? I couldn’t imagine that they’re made of cast iron.
