Igor Shulman’s Art at ART Gallery 11, Prague

Back in January 2023, ART Gallery 11 in Prague opened a permanent exhibition and sale featuring the works of Igor Shulman. Since then, visitors have been able to see and buy paintings by this remarkable artist right in the centre of the city.

Igor Shulman was born in 1959 in Tver (Russia) and studied art there before moving to Prague in 1999. His paintings show everyday scenes and people, mostly women, but he doesn’t just paint what he sees — he creates moments that feel both real and a little dreamlike at the same time.

He often uses strong colours behind his figures to keep the focus on them, stripping away anything unnecessary. His style has roots in classic figurative painting, with echoes of artists like Degas and Modigliani, but the results are unmistakably his own.
